Commercial cleaning is a radically different thing altogether when compared to normal household day-to-day or twice-a-year cleanings.

Well, household cleaning has been there since the inception of civilizations. So it has its share of history.

But what about commercial cleaning?

When every single piece of material on this planet has a history, commercial cleaning might just have one too!

And what’s most interesting is that, this sector has been providing employment opportunities on a mass-scale basis since many days.

In this article, we will be discussing about the history of commercial cleaning companies, and how have they evolved themselves to have been standing as a major sector in today’s world.

The history behind

There’s a common proverb that “something should best be left for professionals”. This is absolutely applicable when it comes to commercial cleaning services.

Because for a fact, the employees providing such services do possess some concrete knowledge and special skills which are required to conduct such work effectively and efficiently.

The establishment of the very first commercial cleaning company dates back to about five decades, in the year 1968.

It was the year when a certain student of the University of Oklahoma thought of earning some extra bucks to boost his income.

So, he began marketing to local businesses a cleaning service that he would provide after classes at night.

This guy named Jim Cavanaugh started marketing janitorial cleaning services to the people of his vicinity at night after school.

After his initial plan was successful, it began growing rapidly as people recognized their potential of providing services.

Also, it would save some time and energy for themselves if they left the cleaning business to these people.

Shortly after this, right in the year 1969, Cavanaugh founded his very own cleaning company ‘Jani-King’- derived from ‘janitor’ and ‘king’. But to every business, profit or expansion marks its future.

Cavanaugh came up with a terrific idea of developing a franchisee model of the company, which eventually made it amongst the top of commercial cleaning companies.

Following this, the interested franchisee was given some initial leads to start with the business.

This helped the franchisee as well because they didn’t have to start right from the grass-root level and contact companies for availing their services. Jani-growth King’s was not limited to the United States; in 1986, the company opened its first Canadian franchise.

Cavanaugh had already relocated his head offices from Oklahoma to Dallas, and he wasn’t disappointed.

The company expanded into Argentina, Australia, Brazil, France, the South Korea, Mexico, United Kingdom, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Turkey, Taiwan, and Singapore.

There are currently over 12,000 identified Jani-King franchisees worldwide at present. Jani-King has over 120 regional offices in 16 countries and services the commercial cleaning needs of millions of customers each year.

Conclusion

Hence, this is the history of the establishment of commercial cleaning companies, which has evolved a long way and involve modern techniques at present.
